Exercise Your Brain w/ FREE Audio Books

Happy Friday to everyone!  Today I’m talking about books, more specifically, audio books.

I love books.  I have way too many books and not enough time, so the natural and logical conclusion is to listen while doing boring, mundane chores such as house-cleaning, wash, ironing, or any other “brainless” job.  If you have elderly people you care for, or those with limited vision, audio books are a fabulous find!  If you don’t already have iTunes downloaded onto your computer, download it today.  Yes, it’s FREE, and almost all of the free audio book sites integrate with it.

As you know, one of my favorite topics is FREE.  So, lucky readers and blog subscribers, here are some wonderful FREE links guaranteed to entertain your brain:

Ambling Books – they even have smartphone apps you can download.  From your iPhone, search “Ambling Books” to download the app and shop for FREE audio books.  Or, if you prefer, you can download the “Ambling BookPlayer” on your computer.  All you have to do is register, (NO credit card required), to gain access to TONS of FREE audio books.

Books Should Be Free – another great site for FREE audio books.  Ignore the “audible.com” advertising!  From Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Freud, there’s a great menu to choose from!  You can download these books directly to iTunes on your computer.

LibriVox – an extensive site of audio books from the public domain.  Click here to find out how-to listen.  You can search their catalog, subscribe to their podcast, or volunteer to read!

Project Gutenberg – no post would be complete without adding Project Gutenberg, which has tons of audio and eBooks available for your listening or reading pleasure.

There’s no excuse for anyone to say they’re bored anymore!  As Hercule Poirot would say, “exercise the little grey cells”!

Have a great weekend!
